The same CRJ-700 involved in the near miss, the plane was grounded for a few days because of investigations.
In 2019, Britain Airways 90, a CRJ-700, departing Greater Rockford for Saint Barthelemy, almost hit a Cyprus Vision Jet that was landing in the opposite side.
Incident[]
In 1:00 PM, Britain Airways 90, operated by a CRJ-700, was boarding for a shuttle to Saint Bathelemy, the plane had 28 occupants, Saint Barthelemy is known for their classic medieval artefacts and structures and a beach that spans around the island, meanwhile Warlock-298, was approaching Greater Rockford from a short flight from Paphos.
In 1:10, Britain Airways 90 was lining up for takeoff, the ATC also confirmed to take off, the Cyprus Vision Jet that was landing had no permission, and was ignored a several times before because of high density aircraft, when Britain Airways 90 was taking off, the pilots were quick to avoid the Cyprus Vision Jet, if the plane would have passes a few inches, the Vision Jet would be ripped apart violently and the CRJ would have crashed into Greater Rockfords mountains.
After the near miss, Britain Airways 90 diverted to Mellor, where the plane was grounded for a short time for investigations.
Aftermath[]
The FAA banned the pilot of the Cyprus jet from ever flying because of his dangerous actions during landing.
The CRJ-700, that was involved in the near miss, was returned back to service after the planes grounding, the plane is still in routine use of Britain Airways for their flights to Saint Barthelemy.
The Cyprus Vision Jet however, was sold off at an auction, and is still in use today.
